Having trouble getting any speed when running #10 envelopes. I can go about 5600 per hour on the speed and then it misfeeds. I have to run the feed wheels to the left side avoiding the flap or they feed real crooked, tried adjusting wheel pressure but only way to feed straight is avoiding flap. I think the flap is catching air at higher speeds and causing the misfeeds so can I run a 3rd wheel? can't see what it would hurt. Thought I could put it over the flap but have barely any pressure, just enough to keep flap from opening. Also, is the blanket wash device realy as bad as it seems, I put in a new roller and felt and adjusted it, it either does nothing at all or floods everything and I'm making very tiny adjustments to the metering roller. I run a Presstek 4 color and the blanket wash on it is GREAT! after 3 years it works perfect all the time!

    banjo,
how big of a pile are you putting in? i find that unless you have a envelope feeder the most that i can effectively put in the feeder and constantly run is around 200, and that's running at 7650 sph. Now keep in mind thats 24# crap #10s, higher grade stocks i can get 300+ and run faster.

On the issue of miss-feeds and registration here is a couple tricks i also use; i fill my feeder and crank the table height to just under the bottom numbers on the thinkness guide, i then loosen my back guide springs and bring the left one all the way forward while keeping the right one back and out of the way and slide the whole guide gently against the envs. This will cock the envs on the non flap side and make the pile more square helping with the reg and feeding, however depending again on how old or "spongy" the envs are you may have to adjust the right guide spring and bring it down to where it is just barely covering the right edge or flap side. Make sure that your air is set to "6' and your wheels are all the way centered. Now depending on how old, or how bad the envs are feeding i adjust my right wheel and bring it one notch over from center as to where it is barely running on the flap, i find that running it this way also helps square up the env. Also make sure that your not squeezing the envs with the side guides, bring them to where they are just touching and back off a hair, this gives them room to flex as the pile bar strikes it. Also get a small diameter rubber hose and cut about an inch and a half piece, now slit that down the center so that it opens up and push that on the pile bar, this helps in smashing out the sponge of the envs.

    Hope that helps!!!

oh yeah, bring your table height all the way up and back off 6 half rotations, this will get it to where the envs aren't pushed against your pile fingers and should allow a smooth clean pick up

#1 I use a rubber band to hold up the bail bar, also a piece of tubing fitted over the bar will work
    #2-use oversized tan suckers
#3 only use one feeder wheel
#4 make the pile sit flat, make a wedge if you need to.
also check your that your forwarding wheels are clean and adjusted
I run can #10 envelopes at 10,000rpm all day!! A size at 8krpm
