Default Heidelberg QM 46-2 adjustments

Does anybody out there have any other sources than the Heidelberg book that tells how to adjust pressures for the water and ink train rollers. I have the Heidelberg book but it isn't very clear on some things. It talks about checking the stripes on some things, (and I know what the stripe is are) but how to check them is a different story.

I use a print stripe gauge (available from Print Media Academy 800-934-4872).A ruler with mm will work just as good ,most can eyeball the width acuartly, just so long as they are even the length of the roller
realy not sure what your asking? the operating manual from Heidelberg tells you how to do it step by step. You could call for service I know they are expensive but the techs are always willing to come out and answer questions and show you or call the hotline for some advise

What exactly are the problems you are having setting the damping rollers on PU2.
You could take the unit out to see and adjust most of the strips if you wished, but it is just as easy in the press using a 50/50 mix of yellow and opaque white inks to see the strips better.
All the screws are colour coded and there are diagrams in the manual showing what roller is adjusted by what screw and what the ink strip should be.

Regards.

Joediego ,Heidleberg USA # is 888-472-9655 sorry no contact names for you I am in Boston
as long you have a plate installed and set knob to 6 you shouldnt have any trouble adj the METERING roller.for dampening form roller you need to use SF-01 to move the Dampening Form roller on and off the plate.SF-02 will ink the plate up.

Default Heidelberg "STRIPES"

OK everybody out there in printing land....I have adjusted form pressures on most all small presses EXCEPT the Heidi QM 46-2. Books and people are talking "stripes" and I'm under the interpretation that they are talking roller-to-roller pressure as opposed to roller to plate cylinder pessure, (forms) so this is what's confusing me. How in the world does a person who has never done it figure this out. Adjusting roller-to-roller pressure, (stripe) makes me think that I have to pull all pressure off and then tighten down until I have pressure. BUT, how do I measure the "stripe?" NOW if it's pressures were talking about then I think I might be able to figure this out. EXCEPT, the only roller to plate pressure is the form rollers, (water and ink). NOW, what about the other rollers? See what I mean.....

there is little difference between roller stripes and stripes on the plate from your forms,if its touching its working, all heidelberg presses have instructions as to how thick the stripes should be.

INK up the press with yellow or any lighter shade of ink. let it idle, stop the press, inch the press forward or turn it by hand, get a flashlight, and look at the rollers as you inch the press forward, you will see a stripe where the rollers come in contact with each other (the stripe is on the rollers)-this is what you are setting, more pres. wider strip less pre. smaller stripe.
same with roller to plate, ink up the press ,mount a plate, use special function sf-02 to ink up the plate, stop press use sf-01, +button roller comes in contact with plate ,-button roller disengages from plate, open cover and check stripe on plate.as long as you have an evan stripes plate to roller the qm-46 will print ok
sf-02 will leave 3 stripes on the plate,1rst is irst inking form roller it is adjusted with the orange screws
2nd form roller is violet
3rd is silver

adjust the 2nd form roller first!!

1rst form roller 4mm yellow screw
2nd blue 4mm
3rd redscrew 4mm
first ink form to plate orange screw 3mm
2nd ink form to plate violet 3m3rd inking form to plate silver-3mm
