    Hamada 665cd timing problem

From #10 envelopes to 8.5x11 20#bond papaer the whole timing is out. Some sheets feed properly and some barely make into the grippers, some feed too far into grippers.. Ive tried adjusting the cam on the blanket cylinder and also raised and lowered the infeed roller. Can anyone help me to properly set the whole paper transport timing? thanks.

I took out the upper infeed roller and made sure the bearings on the ends were ok, it's good. Lower feed roller is fairly new and no signs of uneven ware.

The timing is adjusted when the sheet is at the headstop and the feed roller begins to move forward. if you place a rule from the tail edge of the sheet and measure 60-65 mm as the sheet feeds into the grippers, the sheet should "pop" at this point as the feed roller is off the paper. adjust more preasure on the feed roller for more length, adjust less preasure to shorten. The problem is more than likely as graphiccenter stated, within your feed roller itself. either pitted in areas or wore in places. I had this problem years ago on the hamada's I run. the envelopes tend to wear out the feed rollers very often. I had to replace them a few times a year, until we designated one press just for envelopes and one for 8 1/2 x 11.

Feedroller pressure should also be adjusted from light to heavy stocks. Tighter for light papers and less for cover and envelopes. Few things........on the non operator side of the upper feed roller assy you took out there's a hook shaped finger. This finger rest on the headstop anvil and can wear out. There's also a helper spring that goes there from the hook to pin in the frame. If the spring is broke or missing the upper feed assy can drag. Also the roll pins that hold the anvil to the headstop assy can break. The headstop assy (if it was removed) has a spring on the side that wraps around it and tucks under the crossbar when installed. The spring needs 2 full turns and then installed. Also be sure to check feed roll parallel. Most of these have brass bushings in the frame that can oblong and wear over time. Be sure feeder timing is correct. If this is out anything at the feedroller is moot. What sucker feet are you using the black ones or the small white feet that go on the metal tube feet? Sometimes when running 11x17 the edge of the sucker feet can snag the tail of the sheet and skew it making it misfeed. I can walk you through the feeder timing adjustment if needed.

Cam on the blanket cyl times the feedroller and stop fingers. Before we get into this some questions....
What exactly have you moved or changed?
Was the press running fine before?
Are you the same person that had the issue with the blanket cylinder screw?
If so was that ever fixed?
Some history and background on the press would be helpful. I don't want to cause more problems for you!

That's me.. I pulled out the blanket cylinder shaft and replaced it so im sure i was a few mm. out. It seems good now. I got my 5/16 grip and image after that.. I pulled out the upper feed assy. and changed the upper feed roller and pins that hold the feed roller. Bearings and pins had worn and oblonged. Before I used to to get inconsistent feeds due to the upper feed not being stable..

Now it has a consistent feed without over or under shooting into grippers. I do notice that It has been sounding a bit loud.. I checked my roller and cylinder stripes, its at about 1/8.. We did replace the gripper cam on the inside wall of the operator side.. could this be my problem with the loudness?

I just want to do a complete walk thru with the paper transport and impression timing of the machine, so any imputs would be greatly appreciated.. thanks
