Default Dried varnish on solid rollers.

I have a gto here that has some dried varnish on the 4 fixed ink rollers ( the ones you can't remove). I tried regular washup. I tried scrubbing with a deglazer and some pumice powder and nothing. Can any of you suggest a good product to remove this dried varnish?

I don't know the regulations in your country but try MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) or type cleaner

Are you sure it's varnish, it might be the roller surface, Rilson?

MRC (Meter Roller Cleaner) should take care of it. If the buildup is on the hard or copper rollers use a softened scotchbrite pad with the MRC. I used to run a Komori 5/C and ran 4+ varnish all the time. Also if your getting a buildup it sounds like the varnish is either drying on the rollers during down time or roller pressure settings are off preventing a good washup and need to be adjusted. When I was between jobs I sprayed the varnish in the fountain and rollers with ink-ready. Once a month I'd break down the unit for a good cleaning by hand. Varnish makes a mess of the roller train sometimes and requires a little extra TLC. If it is roller surface as suggested above....UTT OHH !!!! LOL.

Forgot to say you can also use some pumice on the scotchbrite pad with the MRC if it's real stubborn. More the merrier!!! Ya gotta love printing huh???

NAG I think the MEK is about the same as the MRC we have?? I'd have to check the MSDS sheets on that to be certain. So hows the print bizz in the UK??

Hi,

Just be careful not to damage the rilsan (oscillating) rollers surface.

Regards.

Yea it's been pretty bad here too. Last 3 places I've been at have gone out of bizz. All the smaller shops have either merged together or gone under. And those who are still around are cutting each others throats on prices for what work is still around. Pay scales suck too. I'm working a full and part time spot to make ends meet. Doing some repair work as well. What other bizz is over there your interested in?
